St. Patrick's ideas

My first St. Patrick's decor
I spent $2 for the flowers
I dyed the old beans and used the old rice that I found in mg pantry :)

Beautiful Quilting Fabrics

Look at these quilting fabrics that I got yesterday. Aren't they gorgeous?
I've been admiring these colors every time I go to the sewing aisle. I cannot afford to buy any of these fabrics because it cost too much! But yesterday as I was walking towards to the cashier at Walmart I spotted the clearance cart. And these babies are in there. You bet I bought everything that was in that cart. The regular price for these are about $10 to $11. But yesterday it was almost 98% on sale. I payed $8 for all of these gorgeous fabrics.
Good deal isn't it?
Now I can sew something for Spring!
 How lovely!
Sometimes patient pays off!

Home made POLBORON

I've been itching to make some polboron (like short cake maybe)  for years and last week I finally cooked some. What happen was my aunt went back to the Philippines last month and I asked her to buy me some polboron mold :-). So last week she came back from the Philippines and guess what... I got my polboron mold. Thanks a lot to her!

Anyway, I search some recipes of how to make polboron. I found few websites that I like but this one site is easier and uses less sugar and butter. This is the website http://kusinerasaamerika.blogspot.com/2008/04/polvoron-just-like-goldilocks.html. This taste really good! But when it cooled it gets harder like a candy. My youngest daughter can't bite it unless I smash it before I give it to her...but it was good.
So, I tweak the ingredients a little bit. I'd like it a little soft and easy to melt in my mouth plus I like it less sugary. In this picture the lighter color is the best and the darker one is taste burnt. So, when you toast the flour make sure it doesn't stays in the pan longer. But it was still good though.
Here is the ingredients:
1 1/2 cup of Shifted flour
9 tbsp of butter ( 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp) milted
1/2 cup of sugar
3/4 of powdered milk ( NIDO without the word Kinder+) or Anchor milk
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract

- Toast the flour in the pan over a medium heat. Stir continuously until light brown roughly 5-7 minutes.

- In a separate pan, transfer the toasted flour, add sugar and powdered milk mix well
- Then milt the butter and add the vanilla extract. Mix it to the dry ingredients until the butter is fully incorporated to the dry ingredients.
- Use the mold to form the mixture
- Refrigerate for 30 to 45 minutes then serve.

DIY Waterproof Sewing Machine Cover

Back to sewing again!
I have few sewing machines in the house, but they don't come with sewing machine covers. So tonight I made one for my new Brother sewing machine. I bought the material in Goodwill so the color is kind of off... but who cares about colors hahahaha. It is waterproof and that what matter the most.
Anyway, this cover is so easy to make. If you are a sewer you can make this with 10-15 minutes easy. Since I am learning to put things together when it comes to sewing this project took me 30 minutes even.
 Just cut and sew!
the side is not perfect but it do the job ... to cover!
I also put a little handle for easy lifting or removing the cover.

My Wedding Bouquet

Reconstructed Wedding Bouquet
My little daughter got a hold of my 9 years old wedding bouquet and tore them apart into pieces. So, I collected some of the pieces that I saw on the floor and on the table and reconstructed them and framed it. At least I still have some of my wedding bouquet and not totally lost!
Advance Happy Valentine!
